Chef Biography
Mr. Gian Luca Ceresi, is a professional Italian Ice-Cream Chef with 20 years experience. He owns a successful Gelato business back at his home in Bologna, Italy. His experience in the Italian Gelato and Iced-Pastry sector has enabled him to manage his own Italian ice-cream shop with excellent results and great satisfaction.
Mr. Gian Luca Cereci and his wife Ms. Marinella have been coming to South-East Asia regularly for the last ten years, mainly as tourists. Owing to the easy and familiar atmosphere, they soon began to establish relationships with local people and with other Italian residents in Thailand, who over the years have become their friends.
In 2001, some of their colleagues and friends, who managed bars and restaurants, decided to expand their businesses to include the production and selling of Italian home-made ice-cream.
Unfortunately, Gianluca, his wife Marinella, as well as some of their close friends were trapped in the Tsunami of 26 December 2004. After recovering and helping their friends and local people restart their businesses, they were finally able to resume their project with new enthusiasm, committing themselves to the reconstruction and development of the local economy.
Pluto Ice-cream Co. Ltd (Phuket) is the first company they worked with, assisting them to formulate the initial concept. They helped the company through the initial business set-up, constantly making improvements until the business was successfully running. Luca and Marinella's consultancy was all-encompassing and included advice on necessary equipment for the production process, business plan, different lines of products taht were respectively aimed at the wholesale market as well as the retail market, and packaging and distribution. They also provided some of their customers with ideas and suggestions on how to present and serve products pleasingly and efficiently. www.phuket-icecream.com
