About Us
Mr GianLuca Ceresi, a professional Italian ice-cream chef with more than 16 years experience, first had the idea to develop his activity in Thailand in 2004. Unfortunately, Gianluca, his wife Marinella and some of their close friends were involved in the Tsunami of 26 December 2004. After recovering and helping their friends and local people restart their businesses, they were finally able to resume their project with new enthusiasm, committing themselves to the reconstruction and development of the local economy.
BACKGROUND
We have been coming to South-East Asia for the last ten years, mainly as tourists. Thanks to the easy and familiar atmosphere, we soon began to establish relationships with local people and with other Italian residents in Thailand, who over the years have become our friends. In 2001, some of our colleagues and friends managing bars and restaurants, decided to expand their businesses to include the production and selling of Italian home-made ice cream. It was a period of friendly collaboration and advising, until, in 2003, we proposed them a formal collaboration aimed at the start-up of a laboratory for the production and sale of Italian home-made gelato and ice cream. Such proposal included both a plan for the wholesale market, envisaging the supply of products to the main hotels and restaurants on the island, and a plan for the retail market. Despite the general standstill due to the Tsunami, in which we were directly involved, we have received a positive feedback from market and consumers. Some very famous deluxe hotel companies involved in th wholesale market, and all our retail customers (many of whom are foreigners) have become real Italian gelato lovers.
In November 2005, we also had the honour to serve HRH Princess Soamsawali on the opening of the Y.W.C.A. International Bazaar in Bangkok. Despite the difficulties this challenge entails, the results so far obtained leave us optimistic about the future of the Italian
